How to update staff compensation

Once you've set up your payroll templates, the next important step is assigning compensation to your staff members. This is where you define exactly how each instructor or staff member should be paid, using the templates you created. Let's go through how to set this up.
Head to Setup, then Staff.
Select a staff profile.
Click on the Compensation tab.
Fixed salary
Hourly pay
Pay per class
Pay per course
Pay per appointment
You can select one compensation type, or any combination of them. For example, let's enable fixed salary, pay per class, and pay per appointment. This means that this staff member will earn a base salary, plus compensation for each class and appointment they conduct.
You'll find a drop-down with all payroll templates you created with fixed salary as the payroll type. Simply choose the one that applies to this staff member.
Here, you can define how this instructor is paid for classes. You have two options:
Apply to all class schedules: Use this if the instructor's class pay is the same for every class they teach. Just select the payroll template from the drop-down. You can also define what this instructor should earn when they're added as a substitute. Either choose a substitute payroll template or enter a flat amount the instructor should earn per class. Remember, you can use either a template or a flat substitute amount, not both.
Apply to selected class schedules: Choose this if you pay this instructor different rates for different classes. All classes where this instructor is assigned will appear automatically. Simply select the payroll template for each class. You can also define what this instructor should earn when they're added as a substitute by either choosing a substitute payroll template for each class or defining a flat amount.
Appointments work the exact same way, with two options:
Apply to all appointment services: Select the applicable payroll templates.
Apply different templates to selected appointment services: Choose the appropriate templates for each service.
In either case, just select the applicable payroll templates, and you're done. You've now fully set up the compensation for this staff member.
Repeat these steps for all staff members before running payroll. Once every staff member has compensation assigned, you're ready to run payroll and let Kenco automatically calculate earnings for each pay period.
