Understanding the Booking Limit Feature

The booking limit feature allows you to control how many sessions a customer can book using a membership within a set period. This is particularly useful for managing resources and ensuring fair access for all customers. Let's explore some key use cases and how to set up booking limits on Kenko.

Why Use Booking Limits?

  • Prevent Overuse: Even with unlimited memberships, booking limits can prevent customers from reserving more classes or appointments than they can realistically attend, avoiding misuse while still offering unlimited access.

  • Ensure Fair Access: For high-demand classes or limited appointment slots, booking limits ensure all customers have a fair chance to attend, preventing a few people from monopolizing spots.

  • Encourage Mindfulness: Setting limits encourages customers to be more mindful about their bookings, reducing the likelihood of no-shows or last-minute cancellations.

Setting Up Booking Limits on Kenko

  1. While creating a subscription or credit pack, scroll down to section 2.

  2. Enable the applicable services, such as classes and appointments.

  3. Under classes, locate the booking limit feature.

  4. If no restriction is desired, select the first option to allow unlimited bookings.

  5. To limit bookings, select the second option and set the number of bookings allowed along with the applicable time period.

  6. Enter the desired number of bookings and choose the time period from the drop-down menu.

For example, setting a limit of 7 bookings per calendar month allows each customer to book up to 7 classes within that month.

Understanding Time Periods

  • Calendar Month: Runs from the first to the last day of the month. For instance, a pack bought on March 14th with a 7-class limit allows bookings until March 31st.

  • Rolling Month: Starts from the date of the first visit. If the first class is booked on March 14th, bookings can be made until April 14th.

Additional Settings

  • Counting No-Shows: Decide whether missed classes count towards the booking limit. If enabled, a missed class counts; if disabled, it doesn't.

  • Booking Limit Application: Choose to apply limits to all classes combined or per class type. If disabled, a customer with a 7-class limit could book 7 of each class type. If enabled, they can book a total of 7 classes across all types included in the membership.

Booking Limits for Appointments

For memberships that include both classes and appointments, you may want to set a lower limit for appointments due to their higher value and resource intensity compared to group classes.

Conclusion

Booking limits help maintain fairness, protect resources, and ensure smooth operations while still providing great value to customers.
