Managing Credit Pack Expiry

When a customer uses up all credits in their fixed credit pack, you have the option to determine how the pack should expire. This guide will help you decide between two main scenarios for handling credit pack expiry.

Standard Expiry Scenario

In a standard scenario, a credit pack will expire based on the predefined expiry settings, regardless of the remaining credits at the end of the expiry period.

Fixed Credit Pack Expiry Options

For fixed credit packs, you can choose between two behaviors once credits reach zero:

  • Expire on Expiry Date: If this option is selected, the credit pack will remain active until the original expiry date, even after all credits are used. For example, if a five-credit pack valid for one month is purchased on June 1 and all credits are used by June 10, the pack will stay active until June 30. This option provides customers visibility into their pack history and avoids confusion if they check their account before the expiry date. It also allows room for adding bonus credits, extensions, or promotions within the same pack if needed.

  • Expire Immediately: If this option is selected, the pack expires right away once the credits are exhausted, even if time is still left in the validity period. Using the same example, the pack would end on June 10 as soon as credits hit zero. This option keeps customer accounts cleaner and encourages them to purchase a new pack immediately if they want to continue booking, rather than waiting until the expiry date. This can help drive faster repurchases and reduce inactive empty packs showing up in the system.

Conclusion

In summary, choose "Expire on Expiry Date" if you want to keep packs visible until their full validity period ends. Choose "Expire Immediately" if you prefer a cleaner system and want to prompt quicker repurchases once credits run out.
